Information integration, cloud computing, big data management and analytics in cloud, software engineering practice for cloud, cloud and web security, cognitive services and intelligent chatbots, enterprise systems


RESEARCH


Dr. Chen is keen to realizing advanced researches towards business deliverables via academia-industry collaborations. He founded and leads Internet Applications and Services Lab (iLab) working closely with the industry. Prior to joining Taipei Tech, he served as chief technology officer (CTO) for China Times Inc., with responsibility for the corporate strategic technology planning and for handling university relations.


BIOGRAPHY


Dr. Ing-Yi Chen received a B.Sc. in physics from National Central University, Taiwan, in 1984, and M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Arizona, USA, in 1989 and 1992, respectively. Dr. Chen joined Taipei Tech in 2003 and is currently a professor in the Computer Science and Information Engineering Department. He has served as Taipei Tech Dean of Libraries since 2015 and was the Chairman of CSIE Department from 2009 to 2013.


ACTIVITIES & AWARDS


Professor Chen has published 50 papers in journals and conferences, and also holds 14 Taiwan patents. He served as a Principal Reviewer of the SBIR projects of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Taiwan, and the Board of Governors of Software Engineering Association of Taiwan (SEAT) from 2005 to 2015. He received the distinguished teaching award from EECS College, Taipei Tech in 2008, and the IEEE/ACM Design Automation Scholarship in 1990 and 1991.
