RESEARCH

Dr. Wu’s main research works cover network architecture and protocol designs in the fields of optical and wireless networks. His research group has developed and implemented media access control (MAC) protocols, QoS provisioning algorithms and bandwidth allocation mechanisms applied to various network systems. Dr. Wu’s recent researches focus mainly on (1) the design and implementation of communication protocol stacks on wireless industrial IOT systems, through MOST and industry sponsored projects, and (2) green communication aspects of next generation passive optical networks (NG-PON), in terms of energy-saving mechanism. He is exploring machine-learning techniques toward intelligent network control systems.

BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Wu received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from National Taiwan University in 1986, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1989 and 1994, respectively. From 1994 to 1996, he was a lecturer in the department of Electrical Engineering at Chang Gung University, Taiwan. Since 1996, he has been on the faculty at National Taipei University of Technology (Taipei Tech), where he is currently a professor in the department of Computer Science and Information Engineering.

ACTIVITIES & AWARDS

Dr. Wu has served as the technical program committee member for a few international conferences in the field of computer networks. He has been a member of IEEE communication society since 1994. His several open source research projects were awarded as outstanding projects from Ministry of Science and technology (MOST), Taiwan. Recently, Dr. Wu’s research works on wireless IOT has received the best presentation awards at a few international conferences such as ICIET 2016 and ICSN 2018.
